Franklin Thompson has a B.A. degree in Music Industry with a minor in Fashion. His passion for music informs his photography, as does his brief stint as a designer during undergrad.

Watching his dad's passion for photography, he developed an interest in photography at a young age. He frequently carried a camera around snapping away at his friends. His path to professional photography included stops along the way in the music industry as well as web development and design. He made the full time switch to photography in 2003. Having honed his skills by assisting and teching for fashion beauty photographer Sarah Silver, he began shooting his own fashion and beauty editorials in addition to producing photos for art galleries.

Since 2004, his work has been exhibited in galleries and art fairs in New York and Miami with private collectors in New York and France. Franklin's latest exhibition "OTHER", debuted at the Collective Gallery 173-171 in New York, featuring black & white Polaroid portraits of over 30 mixed race people. He is currently pursuing a publishing partner for his first book of images collected during 5 years of travel throughout France, Germany, Spain, Morocco, Turkey, Amsterdam, Belgium and the U. S.

Franklin enjoys shooting digital as well as black & white film and polaroid with a host of vintage cameras from his collection including a Leica M6, Polaroid SX-70, and a Yashica Mat 124G medium format twin lens.

Franklin currently lives in Brooklyn, New York with his wife and son. Today he continues to shoot fashion and beauty editorials for a variety of clients and has begun to shoot video as well.
